Goals & Objectives

The goal of this course is to review facts, concepts, and principles from previously-completed college science courses, and lactation-specific courses, for the purpose of helping first-time candidates and re-certificants to pass the IBLCE examination.

The objectives of this course are:

  • Demonstrate knowledge about established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and cognate (e.g. epidemiological and social-behavioral) sciences and the application of this knowledge to roles for promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding.
  • Use interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective information exchange and teaming with clients, clients' families, and professional associates.
  • Contribute to care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective in promoting, protecting and supporting the initiation and continuation of exclusive and extended breastfeeding.
  • Show a commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities, adherence to ethical principles, and sensitivity to a diverse patient population.
  • Develop an awareness of and responsiveness to the larger context and system of health care and the ability to effectively call on system resources to provide care that is of optimal value.

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 15628, for 90.0 contact hours, accepted in all states in the United States.

This program expires one year after purchase. You must complete the program by the expiration date in order to earn credits. The content of the program will be available for two years after purchase for study purposes. Program expiration dates can be extended at the discretion of Breastfeeding Outlook.
